A much-loved annual event is set to take place next month.

Theydon Bois's famous Donkey Derby, which is expected to attract a crowd of around 4,000 visitors, will return on July 5.

Residents are set to be entertained with number of donkey races as well as a special lamb race featuring livestock from Lea Valley Park Farm.

Dog owners will have the chance to enter their pets into a dog show, as well as the opportunity to get involved in a range of family entertainments including bouncy castles, funfair rides and games such as hook-a-duck or smash-the-crocks.

Face-painting, crafts and other stalls will also be on offer, along with a tea tent, Indian food, candy floss, ice cream and sweets.

Admission is free but donations are welcome.

All money raised will go towards the Theydon Bois Scout and Guide groups and those in surrounding villages.

The event will take place on the green in Theydon Bois between 12 and 4pm.

Youngsters who are between the ages of 10 and 15 years and weigh less that 50kg can sign up to be a donkey jockey by calling Andy Bowles on 01992 813 772.
