The relationship between a socialist political thinker and a classical composer will be explored in an upcoming talk.
Music Professor Mike Roberts has investigated the personal relationship between William Morris and Gustav Holst for a lecture to be held at the William Morris Gallery in Forest Road, Walthamstow tomorrow at 7pm.
Holst, while still a student, joined the Kelmscott House Socialist Club in Hammersmith, where he was said to be inspired by Morris's lectures.
He went on to compose some of Britain's most widely known classical works including orchestral suite The Planets.
Music from Nowhere: Morris, Holst and the creation of music "by the people for the people" is organised by the Friends of William Morris Gallery and costs £8 or £5 for members.
