A seniors club celebrated their 50th anniversary last week.

The Thornwood Seniors Club hosted their fifth decade garden party at Thornwood Village Hall in Weald Hall Lane, Epping, on Thursday (June 18).

More than 120 members were present at the celebration which marked their 50th birthday since the club, which sees members meet for weekly outings such as theatre shows, dinners and walks, was opened by Thornwood resident, Mrs Castle, in 1965.

Club secretary Iris Smith said: "The celebrations went really well.

"There were 120 senior citizen members present, it was really nice.

"I am glad the garden party went so well, we hosted it as a celebration and a thank you to our members for their loyalty."
