A leisure club has raised £1,937 for charity after taking part in the world's biggest swimathon.
Loughton Leisure Centre in Traps Hill, Loughton, saw 31 swimmers sign up as part of the "World's Biggest Swim", which was established in 1986, in April.
Following two months of calculations, the centre announced today that the total raised was almost £2,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The event saw more than 23,000 people take part in the world’s biggest charity swim in the UK.
General Manager David Grant said: “This was an incredible feat from swimmers who took to the water at Loughton Leisure Centre.
“There was a great atmosphere with plenty of supporters cheering the swimmers from the poolside.
"I would like to congratulate all the swimmers who trained so hard to complete their challenge.
"They should be very proud of their achievements and I’m delighted that the Loughton swimming community raised so much money for such an important charity.”
