A community clean up has been funded for an active residents’ group who are determined to improve their neighbourhood.
Walthamstow’s Cleveland Park Residents’ Association was awarded a Capital Clean-up grant of £1,165 to plant, paint and improve their streets.
The group entered a bid to pay for tree pits, window boxes, bird boxes and electric trimmers for communal use by the residents.
Capital Clean-up is a partnership campaign led by the Mayor of London, to help Londoners work together spruce up the city.
Neighbours in Cleveland Park Avenue and Crescent and Vintry Mews host monthly meetings to discuss new projects.
The clean-ups involve the residents improving the neighbourhood by trimming front hedges, clearing front gardens of rubbish and making sure that all the 29 tree pits are maintained. A clean up took place yesterday with the group which was the only one in Waltham Forest to receive the grant.
