A mother-of-two will be attending a book launch event at a library this week.
Geraldine Roberts’s book, The Angel and the Cad, on the scandalous marriage of Wanstead House residents Catherine Tylney Long and William Wellesley Pole was published by Macmillan on June 18.
The 47-year-old South Woodford resident used letters and court records to tell the story of the marriage of England’s richest heiress, who lived in Wanstead House before they were forced to demolish it in 1825 due to huge debts.
A book launch event will be held at 7pm on July 3 at Wanstead Library in Spratt Hall Road.
Tickets are available from Newham Bookshop or Wanstead Library.
