Music, sunshine and carnival colours will take over part of the borough today as people celebrate the Leyton Big Weekender.

The two day family festival kicks off with a wide range of sporting activities, a roller disco and carnival games in Leyton Cricket Ground in Crawley Road.

On Sunday Leyton High Road will be bursting with colour and sunshine, with 30 degree temperatures expected, as the Carribean carnival takes place with the theme ‘creatures great and small’.

When it returns at 2.30pm there will be musical performances from Aswad and The Real Thing plus Island Waves DJ, Scrappy, Camara, Amy Young and Cerebro Dance Troupe.
