Ilford streets are set for a new shine after four days of deep cleaning, this week.

Roads are being swept, buffed and polished in an attempt to improve the look of the town centre.

Night time deep cleans are taking place until tomorrow (July 10) on Cranbrook Road and Ilford station, from York Road to the Ilford Hill junction, and the area in front of Wilkinson’s and around the rotunda..

This clean is being funded by the Council and further deep cleans within the town centre will be funded by the Ilford Business Improvement District (BID) over the coming months.

Councillor Ross Hatfull, cabinet member for housing, payments and benefits said: “In partnership with the BID and Redbridge Police, we’re working hard to make Ilford safer, cleaner and a pleasant shopping experience for visitors.

“This deep clean is part of our commitment to keep our pavements clean and makes a real difference.”

Councillor Khayer Chowdhury, Valentines Ward added: “This is the first in a number of intensive cleans that will be carried out around Ilford Town centre.

“We’re giving the town centre streets a thorough cleaning to help make the area shine in the sunshine and beyond.”
