A former Premier League footballer and boxing champion helped raise £6,580 for a children’s charity at a golf event last week.

Retired Tottenham Hotspur player David Bentley and British featherweight champion Colin McMillan both played at the Chigwell Golf Course last Wednesday (July 8), as part of the event arranged by La Sala restaurant on Chigwell Road.

With a prize giving, auction and raffle, the event raised money for the Dream Factory charity, which aims to fulfil the wishes of children and young adults who have life threatening conditions or severe disabilities.

Auctioned items included two Tenerife holidays, a PGA golf lesson and a tailored suit, helping to raise over £10,000 for charity along with a former golfing fundraiser.

La Sala will be hosting another golf charity event in September.
