A former television presenter paid a surprise visit to a youth radio station last week to give tips on how to break into the industry.

On Thursday (July 16), Anthea Turner visited the Loughton Youth Project along with a professional film crew to meet young students and volunteers and to see how People’s Lottery funding has been spent on the project.

The former GMTV, Top of the Pops and Blue Peter presenter was interviewed about her career in the media by King Harold Academy work experience student, Zach Antonio, 15.

He said: “Interviewing such a successful celebrity on LYP Radio under broadcast television lights and cameras has been a real highlight of my work experience.

“It has given me and others a real insight into media presenting and production and a hunger to do more.”

The project, based next to Loughton library, has worked with nine students to create daily radio shows after receiving £13,552 in lottery funding.
