Families are being invited to design their own motor cars in honour of Frederick Bremer who invented the first British petrol engine car in Walthamstow.
The event at the Vestry House museum in Vestry Road, Walthamstow will pit families against each other to see whose designs can go the furthest.
There is a plaque on the wall of 1 Connaught Road, Walthamstow, marking the creation of Britain's first petrol driven motor car in a small workshop at the rear of the building by Frederick Bremer and Tom Bates, in 1894.
The free race will take place on Sunday (August 9) at 1.30pm
