A group of cyclists who took part in a 100-mile endurance race have raised over £13,000 for a children's hospice.
The 13 cyclists from in and around London took part in Sunday's RideLondon race (August 2) to raise funds for Haven House Children's Hospice in High Road, Woodford Green.
In total, £13,365 was raised from the London to Surrey cycle challenge, which is now in its third year.
The funds are expected to continue pouring in with this week's London Triathlon on August 8 at London's Excel.
Leytonstone couple Laura Griffiths, 30, and husband James Griffiths, 31, are part of a seven-strong team fundraising on behalf of Haven House.
Mrs Griffiths, said: "It’s been tough and there have been times we’ve asked ourselves why we’re doing it.
"Working at the hospice and seeing how the money raised goes to help the families we support reminds me why we’re taking on the challenge."
The charity's chief executive Mike Palfreman, added: "While most people are enjoying their summer holidays and relaxing during August, these local supporters have been training tirelessly to prepare.
"Challenge events are becoming increasingly popular and we’re delighted that so many people are taking them on to raise vital funds for life-limited children and their families in our local communities."
