Nominations have been opened for the first ever NHS awards celebrating “outstanding contributions to health and care” in Epping Forest.

Until September 4, people can nominate members of the community, groups, volunteers and healthcare professionals for the Best of West awards, run by the West Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Categories include Best Health Education, Volunteer of the Year and the People’s Professional Award, which will be decided by public vote.

Chief CCG officer Clare Morris said: “These awards recognise the efforts by people in Epping Forest, Harlow and Uttlesford to keep themselves, their family or their community well.

“Whether it is a simple day-to-day act or a big community project we really want to celebrate their commitment and contributions to their local area.

“We will also be applauding the professionals from health and care organisations that are working closer than ever before to ensure local people experience high quality, joined-up care whatever their needs.”

Winners will be announced at the CCG’s Annual General Meeting in Harlow on September 24.
