A Salvation Army centre has welcomed a new community chaplain.

Major Glenda Holifield, 58, has joined the Salvation Army in Daisy Road, South Woodford, having previously been based in Harlow for the last four years.

The mother-of-three and grandmother to five children first became a Salvation Army officer in 1978 and is originally from Peterborough.

Her vision is the make the South Woodford Corps "relevant in modern society" and to continue its history of serving the community.
