Hundreds of families were entertained after a nature reserve transformed into the seaside this week.

Lee Valley Park Farms in Stubbins Hall Lane, Waltham Abbey, entertained residents with donkey rides, sandcastle competitions, candy floss, deck chairs and a Punch and Judy show when it opened its doors on Wednesday (August 12).

The attraction’s 'Beside the Seaside' event transported traditional elements of a Great British beach to the heart of the Essex countryside adding a unique holiday theme to the farm.

James Broomfield, Lee Valley Park Farms Manager said: “Our Beside the Seaside event was popular with visitors of all ages who got to enjoy all the best bits of the seaside right on their doorstep without having to drive to the coast.

“There were huge crowds for the Punch and Judy show and the donkey rides were really popular with kids.

“We have a seaside theme running at Lee Valley Park Farms for the rest of the summer holidays with sandcastles and deck chairs providing a holiday getaway for families in the middle of the Essex countryside.”
