FREE cycling sessions will be held at the Lee Valley VeloPark.

To mark National Fitness Day and the European Week of Sport families can test out the mountain bike trails in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

On Wednesday September 9, the inspirational venue will offer free sessions on the and one mile road circuit between 4.30pm and 6.30pm.

The trails are graded into three skill levels so anyone from complete novices to seasoned mountain bikers can enjoy the challenges of the 8km long trail.

Cyclists can also race around the smooth, one mile road circuit which includes three loops and crosses two road bridges that cross the River Lea.

The road circuit is on the site of the former Eastway Cycle Circuit, where Tour de France winner and cycling legend Eddy Merckx raced, along with Lee Valley VeloPark Ambassador Laura Trott and Sir Bradley Wiggins in their younger days.

Bikes and helmets are available to hire from the venue for those who do not have their own equipment. Anyone going mountain biking are also recommended to wear pads, gloves, cycling glasses and ensure their legs, upper body and arms are fully covered.
