Prosecute pavement cyclists same as dangerous drivers
I REMEMBER the Guardian's original report last year about the little boy whose leg was broken by a cyclist riding on the pavement and was shocked to learn last week that the culprit has not been prosecuted yet (Mum asks police to act over son's case').
I am a keen cyclist myself and always take care around pedestrians because I am conscious of how much harm I can do to them.
There are too many people, however, who think it is acceptable to ride at speed on the pavements, often weaving in and out between pedestrians.

They are frightening and they know it. Anyone seen riding in this fashion should be taken to court, regardless of whether or not they hit anyone.
If they do hit someone, it should be treated in the same way as dangerous driving. Perhaps that way the message will get across.
