A pre-prep school well known for celebrity parents has celebrated its 110th anniversary.

Golders Hill School, Golders Green, founded in 1908 has seen many children come and go.

Head teacher, Amanda Eglash said: “We are all so excited to be celebrating our 110 Year anniversary.

"Golders Hill School has been opening its doors to local children since before the First World War, when Edward VII was on the throne.”

"Many of the pupils who have left have had impressive careers, from advance molecular biologists, tech entrepreneurs to child actors."

Vanessa Kerner Wolfowitz, 45, spent her early years as a pupil at the school.

She said: “I remember my time there being particularly happy. I do remember having soap put in my mouth once as a punishment but I guess they did things differently then.”

As a pre-prep school the pupils range from the ages of 15 months to seven years to prepare them for Prep schools.

Ms Eglash said: “The school’s ethos is that happiness is essential to the acquisition of knowledge and that learning should always be fun.

"We encourage an independent and confident approach to learning which allows children to think for themselves and to take responsibility for their own behaviour. This prepares them for the opportunities and responsibilities of life in British society.”
