The Spires Shopping Centre is hoping to raise money for charity this weekend with a mammoth press-up challenge.

On Saturday 16 June The Spires will be raising awareness and money for Noah's Ark Children's Hospice and Great Ormond Street by taking on the massive task of completing 20,000 press-ups.

To ensure the team are motivated to complete the challenge, the shopping centre has gained the support of II Squadron, an elite parachute-trained field squadron from the RAF Regiment.

As well as the press-up marathon, there will be a silent auction where you can bid for items such as authentic signed pendants from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur Football Clubs, and tickets to see this year's UK Strongest Man in St Albans.

There will also be family entertainment and games throughout the day.

The event is part of One Great Day, a series of family and community charity events being held throughout the month of June to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity and other locally based children's health charities.

Participating shopping centres will provide a special event or family fun day for local communities across the UK, whilst raising money for a number of great causes.
