REMEMBER the Tacky Zone! Oops, sorry, I meant Masala Zone, the new Indian restaurant in High Ongar.

Well, it has become even tackier since my last moan!

Not content in trying to compete with Las Vegas with their lighting, they have now installed five megawatts flood lamps – two at the back of the building (no reason for the neighbours there to turn back their clocks as its daylight until way past 11pm) and three on the front lighting up the top end of the village and awakening the dead in the church graveyard opposite.

I have saved the best for last.

The so-called car park has now been transformed into a BMX bike dream skidpan. They have spread several tonnes of loose shingle over the whole area.

Give that a few weeks and the shingle will be creeping onto the main roads and the area will encourage those youngsters to practice their handbrake turns and wheel spins in and out of the car park.

Please, when is this low budget conversion going to stop on this poor defenceless building degrading our village?
