Council leaders are party within party

3:56pm Thursday 3rd December 2009

AS a Labour activist, I was shocked to read your report of the independent panel (Disciplinary action against officers under way after damning independent report, November 26).

Clamping companies need strict regulation

3:57pm Thursday 3rd December 2009

WELL done Nicholas Taylor. (Angry drivers take on clampers – and win, November 26). Barely regulated and thirsty for cash, clamping companies get a virtual free reign to force hard-earned cash out of unsuspecting motorists.

Please sort out our parking problems

3:58pm Thursday 3rd December 2009

I AM fed up with the parking problems in this borough and it’s about time some of our local politicians started trying to tackle this issue. Parking in this borough is currently poorly organised, expensive and not helping local traders.

Greens have a feasible plan for Arcade

3:59pm Thursday 3rd December 2009

IN response to Michelle Stevens’ letter (Borough musn’t be allowed to stagnate, November 26), I would like to point out that what the Greens are offering is a positive vision for the Arcade site.

Easing of parking rules would not help shoppers

4:29pm Thursday 19th November 2009

WHILE I welcome any review of parking policy in the borough, the proposals put forward by Conservative councillors in the letter from Cllr Hemsted to ease parking restrictions in the Waltham Forest area show how out of touch with reality they are.

Borough’s population will grow by 19,000

4:29pm Thursday 19th November 2009

IT’S a shame that Cllr O’Rourke has a problem with figures (Letters, November 5). London’s population is expected to grow and Waltham Forest’s with it.

Why not save on street light power?

4:27pm Thursday 19th November 2009

HAVE any of your readers noticed that the colour/power of some of the street lights have changed?

We don’t want six storey buildings on Arcade site

4:25pm Thursday 19th November 2009

I AM incredibly disappointed with the council’s current plans for the Arcade site. They are both unsustainable and financially unviable.

Waltham Forest needs more police now

11:22am Thursday 22nd October 2009

I WAS disturbed to read the article on the Guardian’s website ‘Met Police figures show a rise in crime across Waltham Forest since last year’.

It’s right to fight the increase in flights

11:20am Thursday 22nd October 2009

TREVOR Goodchild (‘We must fight against increase in flights’, October 8th,) is correct in saying that we must fight against an enormous increase in aircraft flying over Leyton and Wanstead. This was the whole purpose of the Liberal Democrats calling a public meeting, which was very well attended.
