OUT of the £1.1million given to the London Borough of Waltham Forest by the government for playgrounds, only £50,000 has been allocated to play resources at the Higham Hill recreation ground.
The Higham Hill Focus Team is disappointed and is campaigning for more money for residents who use it.
It is run down, has no facilities for basketball or tennis and has a very limited range of things for children to do.
We know that with social development going on nearby there will be many more families moving in with small children and we want the facilities for them.
We are entirely justified in trying to get this lifted to ‘premier standard’, then it will be eligible for special funding to benefit residents.
We really feel justified in demanding more money to be spent on this recreation ground.
Cllr Patrick Smith, Liberal Democrats, Higham Hill ward.
