by Dominic Yeatman A PENSIONER was kicked like a rag doll' by two young women before being robbed by a man as he waited for a bus in South Woodford.

The 65-year-old man was sitting at the bus stop in Copsefield Court off Woodford Road just after 10pm on Sunday, April 22, when he was approached by the two women.

One of them was waving her hands in the air and shouting abuse at the man, and when they reached him they started slapping him around the head and punching him in the face.

The man tried to walk away but the women followed him and continued to attack him, punching him to the ground and when he tried to reach for his mobile phone to call the police, a man came up and tore it from him.

DS Steve Cremmin of Ilford police said: "It was a horrible attack. He was on the floor and these girls were just kicking him like a rag doll. It's hard to say what the motive was, it's not clear whether the motive was robbery or anything else."

A witness called the police and the man was taken by ambulance to Whipps Cross Hospital where he was treated for cuts and bruises before being released.

DS Cremmin said there were people in the area at the time and he appealed for witnesses to come forward, adding: "It is quite unusual, two women attacking a man."

The two women are described as in their late teens or early 20's, black, and both between 5ft 1ins and 5ft 6ins tall. One was wearing a track suit and the other was wearing jeans and dark coloured clothing.

The man is thought to be in his early 20s black and about 6ft tall wearing dark coloured clothing.

Anyone with information should call DS Steve Cremmin in the burglary and robbery squad of Ilford police on 8345 2667.
