SHOPPERS who felt stranded in Staple Tye have been rescued thanks to new bus routes laid on by Harlow-based company Galleon Travel Ltd.

Trustybus Routes 22 and 33 have been set up in response to requests from people who were suffering from a poor link to the town and waiting for up to 45 minutes for a bus.

Now Trustline buses leave the town centre every 15 minutes and cover the Kingsmoor, Staple Tye and Passmores areas of the town. The Trustybuses can be recognised by their bright livery of red yellow and blue.

All single fares on the routes are £1.

Managing director Helen Bowden said: "When the company first moved to the area in 2001 it operated from a depot in the Hunsdon area. At that time the local people had one bus a day linking them to Harlow allowing just two hours for shopping. Trustline provided an hourly link which is still running today.

"Our new routes in Staple Tye have been in operation for several weeks and we're very pleased with the amount of regular customers. Our passenger numbers are increasing every week."

After a stint in Hertford, Galleon Travel relocated to the Staple Tye area last year.

The company operates a fleet of 26 vehicles.
