ONCE again I have to respond to inaccuracies made by the Theydon Bois and Abridge Action Group (Epping Forest Guardian, June 12 edition) in which my name was mentioned.
The action group stated "the practice of giving waste exemptions for leisure facilities" is currently being reviewed by DEFRA.
This is misleading as the fact is that all waste exemptions are under review by DEFRA for the purpose of simplifying the process to encourage increased recycling methods.
The action group state it is a consultee in this process, I thought the group might like to know that I am similarly a consultee.
The action group refers to "the dumping of demolition waste" on green belt sites, with their particular target being golf courses, including my course at Rayley Lane, in North Weald.
Again an inaccuracy as I have, on many occasions, informed the action group that the material being imported for reshaping parts of the golf course is excavation waste from civil engineering projects which is approximately 90 per cent to 95 per cent clay (or other sub soils).
The Government is encouraging recycling schemes and, even further, waste management processing carried out locally throughout the UK in an attempt to meet commitments made for reduction of carbon emissions.
The action group's single minded quest to prevent the re-use of excavated sub soil (categorised as inactive waste) for construction works on leisure facilities directly opposes this Government objective.
