THEYDON Bois Action Group (TBAG) would like to clarify the misinformation with regard to the two letters from L. Parker and G. Richards (Epping Forest Guardian, (August 28 edition).
TBAG did not prevent the completion of the golf course at Blunts Farm. Epping Forest District Council issued enforcement notices and the Environment Agency withdrew the waste exemption certificate because Blunts Farm had broken the conditions of their planning permission.
The council informed Blunts Farm that to develop a golf course they would have to reapply for planning permission and would have to complete an Environmental Impact Survey.
The new application included the importation of a further 72,000 cubic metres of material. Blunts Farm failed to complete the EIA and after many months of negotiation withdrew the application stating that due to the ‘global credit crunch’ they no longer wished to develop a golf course.
Theydon Bois Parish Council objected to the application and the district council received more than 300 letters of objection from local residents. The district council also confirmed it would have refused permission under delegated powers.
To comply with the enforcement notices Blunts Farm are obligated to restore the land, remove the mud piles and fill the vast water filled voids by autumn 2009.
TBAG was also instrumental in the cancellation of the motocross meeting. We alerted the authorities of the development of the track and of the scheduled meeting. We also contacted the scrambling club and warned them that the land owners were insisting that they had not given permission for the meeting.
The site is Metropolitan Green Belt and protected by very stringent planning regulations. Any development on the site will not affect its status and very special circumstances will have to be shown before any development is approved.
The three TBAG members successfully elected as parish councillors did not ‘dupe’ the electorate.
There are five Independent parish councillors and those that are members of TBAG made that very clear in their electioneering material.
Jacq Dodman, TBAG.
