KARATE
THE North London Shotokan Karate club scooped two medals at the highly-competitive British Karate Federation Championships in Sheffield.
With many senior UK champions using the event as a dress rehearsal for the World Championships in Japan in November, and a total of 834 competitors involved over two days, it was always going to be difficult to achieve medals.
But NLSK's Lydie Luis and Walthamstow-based Clive Hughes both won bronze medals in their respective division.
Luis took third place in the ladies senior veterans Kata division, while Hughes achieved the same feat in the men's senior veterans Kata division.
They both lost out on a place in the final and then had to win all their rounds in the repercharge for their medals.
Other members in the squad were Sam Redfearn, and Jack and Ellen Welsh.
