Woodford RFC beat local rivals Wanstead 34-10.

The side failed to deal with the ball on the ground and the visitors took the lead.

Ben Dyson kicked to clear the Woodford line and man-of-the-match Jamie Ali followed up with a strong tackle on the Wanstead winger. Will Carey was on hand to race to the posts to score with James Wallace adding the conversion.

A Woodford penalty led to Max Venditti driving over in the corner to make it 12–5 at half-time.

But Wanstead scored straight from the restart. This shocked Woodford but as William Curness drove through the last tackles to score and make it 17–10. James Chance and full-back Bailey Francis linked up to make ground and as the ball was recycled it was passed quickly along the backs. Carey drew in the defence and off-loaded the ball to Ali who sprinted in to score.

Shortly after Zac Cannon went close, Matt Bastick was able to take a pass and jink under the posts, adding the two extra points himself. Wanstead launched an attack, Bastick took on the next player then linked up with Carey who ran the length of the pitch to score.

Woodford Under-14s eased to a 62-25 win over Brentwood.

Jed West scored a couple of tries in the first few minutes. A sweeping move saw Tom Fitzpatrick score Woodford’s third try.

However a chip and chase gave Brentwood their first points before they scored a couple more tries.

The Woodford pack dominated and with good work the backs ran in a couple more tries from Alex Marks and Haaris Sohoye.

After the break Woodford continued the pressure and Dan Farrelly scored a try.

Brentwood continued playing well and grabbed a couple more tries but Mick Chamberlain, Sohoye, Fitzpatrick and Marks, who also kicked six conversions, all crossed the line.
