Leyton Orient boss salutes players after toppling league leaders Tranmere Rovers

Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade believes his side played some of their best football of the season in their 2-1 win over League leaders Tranmere Rovers.

The O's moved into the top ten of the division for the first time this season and they are only five points off the play-offs with just over a quarter of the campaign remaining.

Slade said: "It was a massive win and I thought it was a pulsating game to be honest. They're the league leaders and we stayed on the front foot virtually for the entire game.

"We should have put the game to bed in the first period. I thought we played some of the best football we've played all season and on the back of the defeat on Tuesday the lads deserve all the credit for that."

Charlie MacDonald grabbed his first goal for Orient with his early header and the manager was delighted for the former MK Dons striker.

Slade said: "He totally deserved that one. He's had a couple of half decent chances that he'd be disappointed with that he hadn't scored in previous games. To get off the mark has got the monkey off his back and I think it will do him the world of good."
