Under-14 Boys

Crostyx hosted the penultimate round of the England Hockey Under-14 Development League and won both of their games against East London (2-0) and Sudbury (4-3).

After a goalless first half in the first match versus East London, Crostyx captain Harry Marshall changed the game and linked up well with Jamie Ali to score first.

Fred Marshall, in his first Crostyx match, had a storming game in goal and it wasn't long before Marshall scored the second goal to put the game beyond doubt.

The second fixture against a strong Sudbury side ended 4-3 to Crostyx with Marshall scoring all four goals while Duncan Ramsbotham proved a game-changer after coming on as a first half substitute.

Sudbury valiantly bid to overturn the 3-0 half time margin but Crostyx were too strong for them.

Under-10 Boys

Crostyx played four games against Brentwood and Waltham Forest and beat both teams on aggregate.

First up were Brentwood and Crosytx’s Rory Chick was instrumental in a strong attacking display, scoring the opening goal before James Preston doubled the advantage while Hugo Peddy kept things tight at the back in the 2-0 victory.

Their second game against Brentwood proved a trickier affair as they drew 1-1 thanks to Alex Doyle’s equaliser after their opponents had started strongly which left the aggregate score at 3-1 to Crostyx.

Debutant Louis Hollington grabbed both goals in their 2-0 win over Waltham Forest but, once again, Crostyx’s opponents returned stronger in the second leg and they lost for the first time that morning 1-0.

The initial win was good enough to provide Crostyx with a 2-1 aggregate success on a day in which Owen Chance made his debut in goal.

Charlie Britt and Robert Moncur defended stoutly for Crostyx while Hamza Sheikh and Matthew Payne also made appearances for the triumphant team.

Under-10 Girls

The girls continued their excellent form with two solid victories.

Having a goalkeeper and the luxury of a squad to choose from made a welcome change for the coaching staff.

First up were Brentwood who had proved tough competition at the beginning of the season but three goals from Helene Standring and two from Jasmine Wadsworth gave Crostyx a comprehensive 5-1 win.

Standring repeated her hat-trick feat in the next game versus Waltham Forest after Wadsworth had given Crostyx a 1-0 half time lead.

This time, the girls kept the opposition out as Imogen Murphy, Lottie Gillett and Kiera Murphy helped keep a clean sheet in the 4-0 win.

Under-12 Girls

The Under-12 girls made it a stunning weekend for Crostyx as they beat Brentwood over three 15-minute periods.

Despite trailing 3-1 after half an hour, Lucy Leel’s hat-trick completely turned the game around to win it 4-3 with her last effort coming in the last play of the game. Clara Johnson scored Crostyx’s first.
