Walthamstow schoolboy and taekwondo talent Ilyas Hussain was triumphant in last weekend’s prestigious Trelleborg Open in Sweden.
With more than 1,100 competitors from all over the globe participating in various weight categories, Hussain, who attends Edinburgh Primary School, took home a gold medal after a series of convincing wins.
The 11-year-old said: “I had to change my game plan as no head shots were allowed for my age group.
“I have been working on body shots for over a month in preparation and the hard work paid off.”
Hussain is now looking forward to a well-earned break before training with the GB Cadet Squad later this month.
