Former England spinner Derek Underwood will speak at the annual dinner of Buckhurst Hill Cricket & Lacrosse Club, who are looking for new members ahead of the new season.

Underwood, nicknamed ‘Deadly’, made his Test debut for England in 1966 and went on to score 937 Test match runs.

The former President of the MCC will deliver a talk at the club’s annual event on Friday, April 12.

Buckhurst Hill’s first team enters its second year in the Shepherd Neame Essex Premier League while the second, third and fourth teams are all in Division One.

A new fifth team will be entered this year to enable more young players to play and there are also Sunday matches available.

Junior sides cover all age groups from Under-9 to Under-16, with Under-9, Under-11 and Under-13s training on Friday evenings at the main ground at Roding Lane between 6.30 and 8pm.

The first session will take place on Friday, April 19.

The Under-15s and Under-16s will train between 6.30 and 8pm at Roding Lane on Thursdays, with the first session being held on Thursday, April 18.
