CROSTYX entered two teams into the Essex In2Hockey Under-10 tournament for the first time as the boys side qualified for the competition’s semi-finals.
Competing against nine other clubs, the standard was high and Crostyx started slowly, losing to Redbridge 1-0 in their first match.
The team bounced back in their next game however, seeing off Blue Hornets B 3-0 before thrashing Brentwood 4-0.
The final group game was against local rivals Old Loughtonians and, needing a win to progress to the next stage, Crostyx won 1-0 thanks to a late goal from James Preston.
The Under-10s then faced Blue Hornets A team in the first semi-final and took the lead with an early goal by Rory Chick but the eventual tournament winners came back with four good goals to win 4-1.
Crostyx were then beaten 2-0 in the third place play-off against Redbridge, meaning they finished fourth overall.
The girls were less successful, suffering 2-0 and 1-0 defeats to Colchester and Old Loughtonians respectively.
But the girls ended the day on a high note, beating Blue Hornets B 3-0.
