Chigwell School’s Joshua Banfield has been presented with his international cap after representing the Independent Schools FA National Under-18 team this season.
Banfield, 17, was awarded the cap as he helped his side secure a 3-2 victory over Scottish Independent Schools at Nantwich FC in the final match of the season.
The Year 12 student was selected to go on tour to Spain where he was involved in games against the youth teams of Real Madrid, Athletico Madrid and CD Leganes.
“The opportunity to play against both Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid was an experience I will never forget,” said Banfield.
“They were technically superior but our hard work as a team saw us draw 3-3 with Athletico which was the highlight of the tour.”
