Triathletes from East London Runners took on a 1500m swim, a 40km bike ride and a 10km run in the London Triathlon Olympic Event.

Andy Burke took 2.26.42 to complete the testing course whilst a year on Ninette Fernandes clocked 2.56.42 coming in 18 minutes faster than last year and registering a personal best time.

There were equally impressive times in the London Triathlon Sprint which included a 750m swim, a 20km bike and a 5km run with Samuel Browne finishing with a time of 1.18.43.

Paul Browne, Samuel’s father, crossed the finishing line nine minutes later with a time of 1.27.02.

Earlier in the day Alex Haward won the Walthamstow 5km parkrun in an impressive time of 19.51 with sixth-placed Lee Wollaston recorded a personal best time of 21.16.

David Baldwin (20.42), Patrick Brown (21.00) and Phoebe Bowman (23.13) finished third, fifth and 14th respectively.

In the Wanstead Flats 5km parkrun there were personal best times Gavin Stebbing (18.39), Joseph Browne (18.44), Sarah McCrea (21.41), Keiran Brown (22.23), Claire Parker (23.20) and Russell Lines-Jobling (25.52).

Mark Boulton finished seventh in a time of 18.48 and Russell Price finished 11th in a time of 19.58 Meanwhile in the Harlow ten-mile race Sheila Kennedy recorded a personal best time of 1.27.38 to finish 153rd but it was Patrick Brown who stole the show finishing an impressive 16th with a time of 1.01.26.

Manjit Bedi can also be pleased with finishing in 19th places with a time of 1.02.54.
