West Ham United v Stoke City preview
12:50pm Friday 30th August 2013 in Sport
West Ham United host Stoke City tomorrow in a meeting of two sides eager to shake off the ‘long-ball’ tag readily applied to them.
The Hammers have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the season, beating Cardiff on the opening day before getting a point and a clean sheet up at Newcastle last weekend.
For Stoke, a win over Crystal Palace got the Mark Hughes regime up-and-running after an unfortunate 1-0 defeat by Liverpool in the Premier League’s opening match.
Hughes has the luxury of a fully-fit squad to choose from and after Wednesday’s League Cup win over Walsall, striker Kenwyne Jones will be pushing for a start following his hat-trick.
Andy Carroll is still a couple of weeks away from returning to fitness, whilst Alou Diarra was stretchered off during the Irons’ win over Cheltenham on Tuesday night.
