2:00pm Friday 6th September 2013 in Sport
Buckhurst Hill triathlete Claire Bloom completed her final warm-up race at the Reading Triathlon on Sunday before the World Sprint Triathlon Championships in Hyde Park.
Bloom came first in her age group and was third fastest lady overall, finishing the race in 1.23.16.
The race distances for the Reading Triathlon were slightly longer than usual sprints with the bike section coming in at 22km instead of the usual 20km and the run 5.5km instead of 5km.
Bloom’s race splits of 13.09 for the swim – second fastest time of the season – 41.10 for the bike and 25.25 for the run ensured she goes into the worlds full of confidence.
Bloom said: “I was thrilled with how it went, I feel strong and training has been going really well. I just need to put it altogether one more time.
“The field is going to be so competitive so I have no expectation on position – I’ll just give it my best and see where that puts me,” she added.
For anyone wanting to support Bloom at Hyde Park, her start time is 11.20am on Friday, September 13 and the event is free to watch.
