11 Tottenham Hotspur players on World Cup qualifying duty
Almost a dozen Spurs players were on World Cup duty around Europe last night and not one of them finished on the losing side.
Kyle Walker played the full 90 minutes of England’s 4-0 victory over Moldova at Wembley, with Tottenham teammates Jermain Defoe and Andros Townsend were both unused substitutes.
Another trio of Spurs players were further north at Hampden Park for Belgium’s encounter with Scotland.
Nacer Chadli and Jan Vertonghen were involved for the whole game as the Belgians ran out 2-0 winners, while Mousa Dembele came off the bench late on.
Vlad Chiriches captained Romania to a 3-0 victory over Hungary and Hugo Lloris kept a clean sheet but France were held to a disappointing goalless draw in Georgia.
Roberto Soldado was an unused replacement in Spain’s 2-0 win in Finland, Gylfi Sigurdsson featured in Iceland’s thrilling 4-4 draw with Switzerland and Christian Erilksen starred in Denmark's 2-1 victory over Malta.
