Four East London Runners finish in the top 100 at Run to the Beat Half Marathon in Greenwich

Fourteen East London Runners were in action at the popular Run to the Beat Half Marathon in Greenwich last Sunday, with four finishing in the top 100.
Lorcan Murphy led the way for the Wanstead club as he finished eighth in a superb time of 1.17.24. Danny Lee was next to stop the clock in 25th with a time of 1.22.23 and William Pearce and Alex Bee (both 1.26.23) were only four minutes behind in joint 84th.
Ava Lee crossed the line just outside the top 200 with a time of 1.29.45, while Alex Haward registered a personal best of 1.30.02.
Joining Haward inside the two-hour mark was Amadeus Furlong, who had won the Walthamstow 5km park run the day before, Lauran Jenkin, Claire Parker, Sarah McCrea and Natasha Tweedie.
Ninette Fernandes, Maggie Tomlin, David Wyatt and Julie Creffield also completed the race.
Elsewhere, East London’s Gavin Stebbing and Jamie Xavier were also competing in half marathons. Stebbing completed the UFD Hackney in 1.37.58, while Xavier finished his 13-mile race in Maidenhead in a time of 1.40.01.
At the Middlesex & Open 10km in Victoria Park, the club had representation through Simon Martin, who stopped the clock on 47.48 and not far behind was Sarah Burns in 48.34.
Five Runners finished in the top ten at the Wanstead Flats 5km. Patrick Brown came first in 17.37, beating second-placed Thomas Grimes on 18.17. Just three seconds then separated Samuel Browne (18.23) in fourth, Mark Wyatt in fifth (19.25) and Russell Price, who came sixth (18.26).
