Eton Manor hammer local rivals Woodford 46-0 away from home

Eton Manor continued their strong start to the London One North season on Saturday, trouncing local rivals Woodford 46-0 away from home.
Newly-promoted Woodford have now suffered two heavy defeats in both of their opening games of the campaign.
Manor asserted themselves early on and took a 3-0 lead thanks to a penalty from Ben Thomas.
After 20 minutes, the visitors scored the first try of the day. Thomas, after beating his man, spun out a long pass to winger Chris Jones and he had too much pace for the Woodford defenders and went over in the corner.
Thomas added the extras as Manor led 10-0.
Manor continued to have the better of the play and were operating at a tempo which their opponents couldn’t cope with.
Dan Dyson won lineout ball which was shipped along Manor’s backline where Alex Hunter broke through a couple of tackles before passing out to Jones on the wing and he managed to squeeze over in the corner for his and Manor’s second try, although the score was not converted.
The second half started off as the first had finished as Peter Bicknell made good ground before Nick Horton fed Hunter to go past two defenders and score Manor’s third try.
With a 20-0 lead, the result was secure but Manor continued to press forward.
From another scrum, Horton was quickest to react to a loose ball and went over from close range before Ciaran Bowman came off the bench to make his debut and scored with his first touch, putting down as the forwards piled over the line.
Thomas added the conversion and Manor led 34-0 before the hour mark.
As Woodford tired, Manor continued to pressurise and there was still time for two more scores before the end.
Huw Levis, who used to play for Woodford, claimed both, first running through in the corner before adding a final try after being played in by Callum McKie.
Manor will be hoping to maintain their excellent start to the campaign against Letchworth on Saturday.
