Crostyx ladies continued their excellent start to the East Women’s Hockey League Division 2 C season with a 7-0 victory over Ipswich on Saturday.
In their first home game of the season, Crostyx put on a superb team performance and got off to a quick start.
Winning several short corners in the first ten minutes, Crostyx looked particularly dangerous on the right wing with strong attacks early on.
The attacks then began to turn into goals as Ciara Newell scored after an impressive run on her reverse stick.
This was then followed by Alys Hackett who scored a fine short corner with a well-placed drag flick into the top right corner of the goal.
In the second half the goals again came in quick succession as Carrie Curtis scored three typical centre forward goals after being well positioned for a cross from both sides of the pitch and each time swept the ball into the goal.
After a fine run from Sarah Belsham, Crostyx managed to score again with a rebound shot by Annabel Smith and the final goal was scored by Belsham, who was well positioned to sweep home a cross.
Crostyx play IES at home on Saturday.
The ladies second team were pleased to come away with a point after a 0-0 draw with Old Loughts. Chantal Pampellonne was player of the match.
The men’s teams endured difficult afternoons as the first team were thrashed 11-1 by Ipswich in East Men’s Hockey League’s Premier B Division.
The men’s second team were beaten 6-1 by Redbridge in Division Three South East.
