Woodford Under-15s came from behind to beat Rochford Hundred 14-7 in a friendly on Sunday

Determined to avenge a 29-17 defeat in October, Woodford found themselves on the back foot early on but strong rucking from man-of-the-match Victor Chujor, Will Curness and Arun Vaid and relentless tackling from Harris Sohoye and Euan Fay kept Rochford at bay.

With half-an-hour gone, Rochford did break through with a long run that finished between the posts and the successful conversion allowed the visitors to take a 7-0 lead into half-time.

Woodford improved after the break and from the kick-off Chujor drove forward through the Rochford defence for a try to the right of the posts.

Alex Marks was on target with the conversion to draw Woodford level.

And with 50 minutes played, Woodford took the lead. A Rochford clearing kick was intercepted by Anthony Hamilton and he nipped through to score the winning try.

Marks added the extras and Woodford held on for a well-deserved win. Woodford’s next game is away at Burnham in the league next Sunday.
