East London Boxing Academy’s rising star Athsham Khan has made it through to the national novice bantam weight final after an impressive victory against Lowestoft ABC’s Lee Casey in Birmingham.

Kahn won the fight unanimously in all the judges’ cards by wide margins. The 17-year-old started the bout at a fast pace and used his boxing skills to pick Casey off.

In the second round the East London boxer took the fight to Casey and forced him back.

Kahn was the stronger fighter on the inside exchanges and controlled he fight well from the outside. It led to a commanding victory for Kahn in front of world title challenger George Groves.

The final will take place on Saturday and Khan will face the winner of the northern semi-final between Middlesbrough’s Alex Maphosa and Sheffield’s Hamza Arshad.
