West Ham United boss focused on Manchester United after Tottenham Hotspur Capital One Cup win
9:33am Thursday 19th December 2013 in Sport
West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce is already focused on their Premier League match at Manchester United despite their 2-1 Capital One Cup win at Tottenham Hotspur last night.
The Hammers will face Manchester City in the semi-final next month after their victory at White Hart Lane. But their attention has already turned towards improving their poor league form this weekend.
Speaking last night, Allardyce said: "It was a fantastic victory for us.
"It's a brilliant effort from the squad today. It's a great night for us, it's a great night for the West Ham fans, because it's twice on the trot.
"It's a victory we can enjoy tonight, but tomorrow it's up and at it again and getting ready for Manchester United.
"With a resilient performance - like we showed tonight - against Manchester United, hopefully we might get something there. Hopefully it will kick us on."
Modibo Maiga scored a late winner for West Ham which was his first goal in more than a year.
Allardyce said: "I'm delighted for him because he's showed glimpses of what we saw when we watched him in France.
"All I hope is it's unlocked the door for him and he goes on to continue to score more goals."
