Woodford Green AC with Essex Ladies’ men’s A side sit fourth in the ATW Metropolitan League Division One after a solid display at Alexandra Palace on Saturday.

James Stockings was the first Woodford athlete home as he crossed the line in 34th. Jordan Donnelly was 38th and Bertie Powell was 40th. Tomaz Plibersek claimed 42nd, Donatas Tumaitis took 61st, Harold Wyber clinched 77th despite illness and Darren Southcott was 86th.

Lorcan Murphy (102nd), Gareth Cavell (110th), Tony Russell (111th), Rob Wilbraham (113th) and Joe Everitt (121st) also completed the course for Woodford, who finished fourth overall at the event.

The women’s A side are also fourth in Division One but a weakened team could only come eighth on Saturday.

Emily Moss ran well and was 12th in 24.06 while Rachel Lund clocked 24.35, which was enough for 17th.

Bernie Pritchett (V45) came home in 26.16 for 49th while Maxine Davies was 74th in 28.00. Jenny Thomas (V45) stopped the clock in 28.28 for 84th and Kate Stockings was 102nd with 29.22.

Several of the club’s younger athletes took to the course and there were strong displays from Rosie Poole and Edie Preece in the Under-15/Under-17 women’s race. Poole was second in 17.41 while her club-mate was fifth in 17.51.

Kyesha Robinson (12.25) picked up 14th place in the Under-13 girls’ race and Megan Caswell (12.46) was the only other Woodford finisher in the event.

In the Under-13 boys, Hayden Malearly and James Inkley made their Met League debuts and claimed 23rd and 32nd respectively.

James Wakefield (20.29) was 27th in the Under-15/Under-17 boys while Owen Armstrong (21.34) was 24th.

Taylor Reece was 62nd and Jack Shury was the final Woodford athlete across the line 69th.
