Moses Odubajo insists the sky’s the limit for promotion challengers Orient this season.

The talented winger has played a vital role in the O’s success in the current campaign and his seventh goal of the season set them on their way to victory at Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday.

Russell Slade has instilled an exceptional team spirit at the club and the manager’s belief has rubbed off on the players.

Odubajo said: “There is plenty of belief from us. We just play the games as they come and the sky’s the limit.

“The boys just give 100 per cent every time we go away and step over that line. You know that’s important with the teams below us chasing us and to keep up with the likes of Brentford and Wolves. But we just play our own game and it’s great.”

The O’s returned to the top two in League 1 following their win over the Shrews and the pacy attacker believes it could be a significant result in their promotion push.

Odubajo said: “Words can’t describe how important it was. To come here on a Tuesday night and get the three points, everyone is delighted. We dug in, scored early on which was great and they piled pressure on us but we resisted it and came out on top.

“It’s a big psychological boost for us but we’re just going to recover well and train Thursday and Friday and go again.”

Odubajo certainly looks as if he has the potential to play at a much higher level and the prospect of Championship football next season is a realistic target but he is not looking that far ahead.

“Words cannot describe that [Championship football] but at the moment we’re just focusing on winning as much as we can and we’ll go from there,” he said.

Odubajo was one of the success stories of last season but only managed to chip in with three goals. Having more than doubled that already since the start of this campaign, Odubajo feels his game is benefiting from work with the coaching staff on the training ground.

He said: “The management always tell me to work on my finishing every day so it’s paying off.

“I think he [Slade] plays a big part. Every day he tries to do little things with me and all the staff help and work individually on different parts of my game.”

Orient have faced a tough run of away fixtures and their last two matches at Yeovil Town and Shrewsbury Town, on difficult surfaces, have taken their toll on the players. Odubajo has already turned his attention to resting up and preparing for the next challenge at home to Carlisle United this Saturday.

The 20-year-old said: “It’s been pretty tough. It’s all down to our recovery and how we go from there and hopefully get another three points against Carlisle.

“It wasn’t as bad as Yeovil to be honest but it was still up there.

“You could see the lads were starting to get a little bit tired from the pitch but we’ve just got to go again.”
