Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade described his side's attitude and energy as fantastic after they thrashed Carlisle United 4-0.

The O's dominated the entire game at Brisbane Road as they brushed aside their woeful opponents to remain second in the race for League 1 promotion.

Slade said: "Obviously it's been a busy and big week for us. We had a late night on Tuesday [at Shrewsbury Town] when we had a really good performance on a difficult surface.

"It's nice to be back at home and we created an awful lot of chances. The attitude and the energy that we showed was fantastic.

"We did show patience but the encouraging thing was the creation which continued throughout the game. There were chances that went begging and fortunately in the end we capitalised and got ourselves four goals."

Orient brought on substitutes Jamie Ness and Shaquile Coulthirst for their home debuts and the loan signings made an impact as they both netted in the win.

Slade said: "You know what's important is you always want people to make an impact when they come on, whether it's a short time for five minutes or like today with Jamie where it was 55 or 60 minutes he played.

"You've got to make an impact and they did. Everyone made an impact, the two young boys that came on, Jamar Loza and Shaq did a great job for us. They looked a real threat in the last 15 minutes."
