Crostyx Ladies cemented their place at the top of East Hockey League Division Two Central with a 4-2 win over Ipswich.

It did not take long for Crostyx to relax into their positions and although some not having played for a month natural ability and years of experience shone through.

Carrie Curtis opened up the scoring when a neat ball up the line from Laura Feldman found Sarah Belsham who foxed her defender and neatly slipped the ball back to Feldman to tuck away.

The second goal of the match came through a similar vein, a transfer round the back 4 of Keeley Pratt, Donna Blockley, Anna Feldman and Laura Beaton found Belsham again. Belsham tied her marker in knots before caressing the ball to Laura Feldman to score with ease.

Crostyx absorbed some pressure from Ipswich before the half time whistle, Debbie Crowhurst in goal watching the ball sail through no mans land off the baseline.

The second half Crostyx began on the back foot and Ipswich came out with passion and determination, a quick break caught Crostyx off-guard and a shot from the top of the D made the score 1-2 with Ipswich's momentum continuing to build.

Crostyx Captain Vicki Berill however had her own passion and determination building inside and from the push back receiving the ball back 25 yards from the goal Berill dribbled the ball on a inspiring solo run to round 3 defenders and take a shot at a acute angle and score.

Kat Hawes and Ellie Prideaux worked tirelessly down the wings relentlessly. Feldman got her second of the match and made the score 4-1 with a class shot from the top of the D to wrong foot the Ipswich goalie.

Ipswich managed to scrape a goal back just before the final whistle to finish the game 2-4 to Crostyx.

Crostyx now sit at the top of East Division 2 Central, one point clear with Blueharts HC hot on their heels.

Crostyx play away to bottom of the league Ipswich & East Suffolk at 11.30am on Saturday.
