Waltham Forest were crowned East Division One Indoor champions in Cambridge at the weekend.

Forest started slowly in their opening match against Bourne Deeping but eventually found their rhythm to win 8-3 with Shuhel Malique scoring three goals in the victory.

Their next opponents were Norwich Dragons and the result was never really in doubt for Forest, who led 3-0 at half-time and went on to win 9-2.

A walkover against University of East Anglia meant Forest led the group overnight and started Sunday in similar mood, beating Wisbech Town 9-4.

With only a point required in their final match against Bishop’s Stortford to win the title, Forest went out in style with a 9-2 victory.

Forest were unable to replicate their success in East Premier B however as they lost 4-3 against joint table-toppers Felixstowe.

The Stags trailed 2-0 at half-time but pulled themselves back into the match when Nico Kurt scored a drag-flick low into the bottom corner.

The joy was short-lived though as Felixstowe scored their thrid from a short corner before Liam Radley again reduced the deficit to make it 3-2.

Rich Lowe and Chris Tanswell were both shown yellow cards and Felixstowe took advanatge, converting their third short corner of the day.

Ed Jackson grabbed a late goal to give Forest hope but it wasn’t to be as the visitors held on.

Forest ladies enjoyed a happier afternoon as they thrashed Sevenoaks 6-0 in Division One East.

Two goals from Lucy Butcher and one each for Katherine Abbie, player-of-the-match Kate Murphy, Am Perry and Lucy Fish sealed a convincing win.
