Epping Forest Swimmers achieved personal bests and Essex qualifying times at the Basildon Phoenix New Year Open Meet.

The County Championships take place in February and March and several Forest youngsters will be in action after impressive displays in Basildon.

Ryan Dooley, 11, recorded personal bests in the 50m free style and 50m breaststroke, achieving an Essex qualifying time in the process.

Finley Sergent claimed third place in his 14 year age group for the 50m backstroke with an Essex qualifying time and registered a personal best in the 50m freestyle with 29.27 which was also an Essex time.

Sienna Treglohan in the nine year old’s age group won the 50m freestyle in a time of 38.12.

He also came second in the 50m backstroke and third in the 200m individual medley with three personal bests and Essex qualifying times in all three.

Mia Jones won two silvers in the 14 year olds age group for 50m backstroke and 50m breaststroke and came third in the 200m breaststroke.

James Wakefield managed to achieve Essex qualifying times in the 50m breaststroke and the 200m breaststroke, where he came second in both, and the 100m breaststroke.

Michael Sharp took second place in the 50 butterfly and clocked an Essex time.

Connie Knights finished third in the 100m individual medley with a personal best of 1.19.01 while Kieran Wakefield achieved his Essex time for the 50m backstroke.

Daniel Hathaway won a gold in the 12 year old’s 50m breaststroke.
